Regal's New Reel Deal!
Knoxville-based Regal has added a middle seat to its loyalty lineup, giving moviegoers a new option between a free rewards account and an all-you-can-watch subscription.
One Ticket, More Reasons to Come Back
The new Regal Rewards+ membership starts at $10.99 per month, depending on ZIP code, and includes one standard 2D movie ticket each month. If life gets busy and that ticket goes unused, it rolls over, waiting for a future release instead of disappearing at month’s end.
Members can also purchase up to four additional discounted tickets each month and receive 20% off concessions and non-alcoholic beverages. Eligible ticket purchases come without convenience fees, removing one of those small charges that moviegoers tend to notice most when buying online.
The program is also tied into Regal Rewards, the company’s free loyalty program. Qualifying purchases earn 100 points for every dollar spent, which can later be redeemed for rewards including tickets, concessions and merchandise.
That puts Rewards+ squarely between free membership and Regal’s more committed moviegoing option.
Filling the Gap Between Free and Unlimited
For frequent theatergoers, Regal Unlimited remains the bigger subscription, starting at $25.99 per month and allowing members to see unlimited standard 2D movies at participating theaters.
Rewards+ is aimed at a different customer: someone who likes going to the movies regularly but may not need an unlimited plan. One monthly ticket, concession savings and discounted extras give Regal another way to encourage those customers to make the theater a habit.
That matters from a business standpoint. Theaters are no longer competing only on what is showing Friday night. Loyalty programs, premium formats, upgraded food and beverage choices and subscription plans all give operators more ways to build repeat visits and strengthen relationships with customers.
For Regal, headquartered in Knoxville, the launch also puts a Tennessee company at the center of an industry-wide question: how do theaters make moviegoing feel worth repeating?
Rewards+ offers one answer by turning a single ticket into the start of an ongoing relationship rather than a one-night purchase.
