Memphis Inner City Rugby

Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR) leverages the power of rugby to close the opportunity gap, create a relentlessly supportive community, and drive upward mobility for students living in under-resourced communities. Since 2012, MICR has provided free rugby programming, academic support, mentorship, transportation, nutrition, and alumni services to 350 students annually.

Students not only gain access to a new sport but also to a community that fosters resilience, belonging, and opportunity. Independent analysis by Slingshot Memphis has confirmed that every dollar invested in MICR generates $2.30 in poverty-fighting impact. With programs spanning 13 teams, alumni thriving in higher education and the workforce, and a new Rugby Complex under development in South Memphis, MICR is building a legacy of relentless, relational, and responsive support that transforms lives and strengthens our city.
