Torchbearer Hall - University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Torchbearer Hall at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is more than a residence hall: it is a community built around the Volunteer experience.

Opening its doors in Fall 2026, Torchbearer Hall is home to more than 1,000 first-year students and was thoughtfully designed to support connection, academic success, and student well-being. From welcoming lounges and study spaces to the community kitchen, gathering areas, laundry facilities, and an expansive outdoor courtyard, every part of the building was created with students and community in mind.

Located beside Circle Park in the heart of Rocky Top, Torchbearer Hall also features a distinctive 36-foot fire feature celebrating Tennessee's Volunteer identity and will be home to a satellite location of the UT Creamery.

Torchbearer Hall represents a unique partnership between the University of Tennessee and RISE, combining UT's commitment to an exceptional student experience with RISE's dedication to the the care, maintenance and long-term stewardship of the community. From opening day forward, our teams have worked side-by-side with one goal: creating a safe, welcoming, well-maintained home where Volunteer's can live, learn, connect, and thrive.

At Torchbearer Hall, we don't simply maintain a building, we take pride in caring for a community that more than 1,000 Volunteers call home.
