Hohenwald Welcome Center

The Hohenwald/Lewis County Welcome Center is unique in that we are housed Monday through Friday in the historic Strand Theatre! This gives us the great opportunity to share so much of the artistic and musical culture of Hohenwald and surrounding region. Right outside our front door you will find a Tennessee Music Pathway tribute to Hattie Louise "Tootsie" Bess of Tootsie's Orchid Lounge who once lived on the same street as our Welcome Center. Also, on the weekends we receive guests at our second location in the historic Train Depot where most of the original Swiss/German immigrants arrived to build the New Switzerland they had been promised which eventually became Hohenwald (translated High Forest in German). We also get to tell our visitors about our "Lewis" namesake from Captain Meriwether Lewis as his final resting place is central to our county. Yes, our county was carved out of 5 surrounding counties as a national monument to the great explorer. So, you just have to come and visit us to hear "the rest of the story" that can only be heard at the Hohenwald Welcome Center.
