Pick Your Own Adventure!

Pick Your Own Adventure!

Summer tastes better when you have to reach for it! Across the state, peach orchards and berry farms are turning ordinary weekends into road trips with juicy rewards waiting at the end.

The beauty of Tennessee's pick-your-own season is that no two stops feel quite the same. Some farms hand you a bucket and point toward rows of blueberries. Others tempt you with tree-ripened peaches, fresh produce stands, homemade treats, or a chance to wander the fields a little longer than you planned. Either way, you'll probably head home with stained fingertips, a full cooler, and enough fruit to convince yourself you'll definitely make that cobbler.

Follow the Fruit

Middle Tennessee offers plenty of reasons to hit the road. In Spring Hill, Wagner Berry Farm has become a longtime favorite for strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Visitors can also browse jams, honey, and other farm products in the Berry Sweet Bakery Store before heading home. Availability changes with the harvest, so checking their Facebook ahead of time is always a smart move.

If peaches are more your style, head to Breeden's Orchard. This Mt. Juliet spot opens limited pick-your-own peach dates during its July harvest, giving visitors a chance to fill baskets straight from the trees. Nearby, Morning Glory Orchard in Nolensville offers both clingstone and freestone peaches, in addition to local honey, cider, preserves, and more.

In Clarksville, Slate Farms Strawberries lets visitors choose between picking their own strawberries or grabbing freshly harvested berries from the farm, along with other seasonal produce as the summer progresses.

And out in Loudon, Honey’s Blueberry Farm grows blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, peaches, and other seasonal crops, making it easy to leave with a basket that looks like summer itself.

Worth the Drive

Pick-your-own farms have become one of Tennessee's favorite warm-weather traditions because they slow the day down in the best possible way. Kids discover that fruit doesn't grow in plastic containers. Adults remember why fresh peaches smell so much better than supermarket produce. Everyone finds an excuse to swing by a roadside market before heading home.

Before you head out, check each farm's website or social media for current picking conditions, hours, and crop availability. Mother Nature writes the schedule, and every harvest depends on weather and ripeness. Once the fruit is ready, though, there's no better excuse to trade the interstate for a few country roads and bring home a little taste of summer!
