Milk Optional, Oreos Required!
Not every festival needs a complicated theme. Sometimes all it takes is a good idea and a cookie that people already love.
That’s the thinking behind Murfreesboro’s Oreo Festival, which returns for its second year on Saturday, March 28. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the MTSU Livestock Center will fill with cookie inspired desserts, family activities, and a lineup of vendors putting their own spin on the classic sandwich cookie.
The event moves indoors this year, giving guests plenty of room to explore while keeping the focus where it belongs: creative treats and a laid-back afternoon outing. With free admission and free parking, it’s an easy stop for anyone looking for something different to do in Rutherford County.
A Cookie with Endless Possibilities
The Oreo Festival invites bakers, food vendors, and dessert creators to take a familiar ingredient and run with it. For some, that means sticking close to the classic pairing of cookies and cream. Others take a more experimental route. You can apply to be a vendor right here!
Visitors can expect a wide variety of Oreo-themed desserts throughout the venue. Some will be familiar favorites. Others will push the cookie into unexpected territory.
A few things guests will likely spot along the way:
- Oreo cheesecakes, brownies, and layered desserts from local bakers
- Milkshakes and sweet treats built around cookies and cream flavors
- Specialty baked goods that use Oreos in creative ways
- Snack vendors offering savory options between dessert stops
Part of the fun is simply seeing what people come up with. One booth might offer a perfectly simple Oreo cupcake, while another builds something far more elaborate around the same cookie.
A Sweet Day Out in Murfreesboro
Beyond the desserts, the festival leans into the kind of easygoing atmosphere that makes community events feel welcoming. Families can move through the space at their own pace, stopping for games, activities, and interactive booths set up throughout the livestock center.
By the end of the afternoon, the real challenge won’t be finding something to try; it’ll be deciding which Oreo creation deserves one last bite before heading out the door!
