Friends of the Blount County Animal Center

The Blount County Animal Center has proudly provided 16 years of service to the animals and people of our community. We remain the only government-operated animal shelter serving unincorporated Blount County. 

As Blount County’s only municipal shelter, we are required to take in every animal that comes to us—regardless of how sick, injured, or behaviorally challenged they may be. Each year, approximately  2,000 animals arrive at our doors, and we remain committed to giving every one of them the best possible chance. Our core mission is to ensure that every healthy and adoptable animal finds a loving home, that every animal with a treatable condition receives the medical care it needs, and that every behaviorally sound animal with an untreatable condition is given dignity and compassionate support.
